Ramona Community Foundation grants $44900 to 11 local nonprofits

Foundation: Ramona Community Foundation

The Boys and Girls Club of San Diego's Video Production Club is going to be able to buy new equipment after all.

The Conrad Prebys Ramona Branch received a $5,000 grant from the Ramona Community Foundation to buy new equipment, including iPads and tri-pods, for the club, which started last year, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

"We wanted an opportunity for people to do fun classes that were free and family oriented," says branch manager Simone McCune.

The club teaches youth the video production process, from equipment functions to shots and angles to storyboard planning, filming, and the editing process, McCune says.

The Conrad Prebys Ramona Branch is one of 11 nonprofits that received a total of $44,900 in grants from the Ramona Community Foundation this year.

Among the recipients: Ramona Senior Center, ArtReach, Feeding San Diego, Boys and Girls Club of Greater San Diego, Voices for Children, Girls on the Run San Diego, TrueCare health center, which received $4,800, Art Center of Ramona and the Write Out Loud program, which received $3,300 each, and the Burn Institute and Heart and Hooves Therapy, which received $2,500.
